Fundamental to our nursery school is the cooperative experience, where parents actively participate in their child's early education. This provides comfort for the child in the transition from home to school and at the same time allows parents to relate first-hand to their child's classroom experience. In addition, children have the opportunity to get to know other parents and benefit from their varied talents and experiences.
Parents concerned about the time demands of a cooperative nursery school should know that they are required to help in their child's classroom only five to seven times during the year, attend three general membership meetings per year and serve on one committee or on the Board of Directors. There is also the opportunity to become deeply involved in the administration of the school.
Unlike a daycare center, our school depends on parental involvement and our families often form lifelong friendships from their time together. Parental involvement reinforces the link between home and school, demonstrating the value parents place on becoming active participants in their child's learning.
